Polestar 4 Set To Launch With Up To 16-Speaker Harman Kardon Audio System

Swedish electric performance car brand, Polestar is set to bring two new Electric Vehicle (EV) models to the market this year, the Polestar 4 Electric SUV coupé, equipped with a Harman Kardon audio system, and the Polestar 3 with a Bowers & Wilkins system with Dirac Opteo Professional.

EVs have been having a bit of a moment lately, with renowned brands like KEF, Meridian Audio, Focal and more partnering with automotive makers to offer audio systems that are incredibly powerful and much better sounding. One of those to come to Europe, Australia, and Singapore in 2024 is the electric SUV coupé Polestar 4.

Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, told StereoNET

The introduction of Polestar 4 into all our markets through the course of 2024 is key to our success, adding this third model to our line-up. Polestar 4 tackles the premium performance class in the D-SUV segment. Polestar 4’s innovative interpretation of an SUV coupé offers great interior space and a stunning appearance.

The Polestar 4 is the fastest production car the brand has developed to date. The 0-100 km/h sprint can be completed in just 3.8 seconds, and the maximum power output is 400 kW (544 hp). Driving dynamics are true to the Polestar brand – sharp steering and handling responses result in a thrilling and nimble driving experience for all occupants.

The interior and its materials of the Polestar 4 have been designed around the theme of ‘soft tech’, drawing inspiration from the fashion and sportswear industries. Colour and material choices for Polestar 4 explore new executions for Polestar – including new exterior colours Storm, Electron and Gold, as well as a unique new interior colour, Mist.

Polestar continues to push technology towards a more entertaining, connected, and autonomous future in all its cars. The infotainment system in the Polestar 4 is powered by Android Automotive OS and the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform now utilises a 15.4-inch landscape-oriented screen.

The Polestar 4 comes with a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and drives 1,400-watt channel-hybrid amplification, while two additional headrest speakers can be added to each front seat when the optional Nappa Pack is purchased, bringing the total to 16 speakers.

The close collaboration with Google allows Polestar to keep pushing the boundaries of its system. The infotainment system with Google built-in, including Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play, offers a leading connected experience. For Apple iOS users, wireless Apple CarPlay is also supported.

In addition, the Polestar 3, which was announced in mid-2023, will also be making its arrival this year. The Polestar 3 comes with a 1,610-watt Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound audio system that’s combined with Dirac Opteo Professional for a “clear, balanced and immersive sound experience that’s consistent across every seat of the vehicle”, as the company promises.

The Bowers & Wilkins’ Surround Sound audio system was specially designed for the Polestar 3, with 25 high-performance speakers using the brand’s proprietary technologies, Tweeter-on-Top and Continuum Cone, inside.

StereoNET had the opportunity to test drive the Polestar 2 with the Harman Kardon audio system recently and we were extremely impressed by the overall performance and in-cabin experience of our drive. We anticipate the Polestar 4’s audio and infotainment system to be even better although both use the same Harman Kardon brand audio system. We’re eagerly looking forward to the Polestar 3’s Bowers & Wilkins’ Surround Sound audio system with Dirac as well.

Both the Polestar 4 and Polestar 3 are expected to be on the roads around Q3 2024
